IntertechRail’s AEI (Automatic Equipment Identification) system is designed specifically for railways. It uses RFID technology to provide precise train identification and asset control.
Each wagon and locomotive carries a passive RFID tag engineered for long-term durability in harsh railway environments, ensuring reliable identification at every portal.
Wayside AEI portals integrate high-performance antennas and readers to capture tag data at line speed, associating each ID with time and location to build an accurate train in real time.
The system can be enhanced with axle sensors that synchronize RFID events with wheel detection, guaranteeing exact sequencing of wagons and locomotives for reliable consist assembly. In addition to vehicle-level identification, AEI can extend to component-level tracking with RFID tags applied to wheelsets, axles, bogies, and engines, enabling granular asset management and maintenance traceability. For corridors with high vandalism risk, Intertech Rail provides between-the-rails installations, embedding antennas directly in the track and placing tags beneath wagons and locomotives, which ensures secure data capture without exposure to tampering.
